Mrs. Bertha Elizabeth Bell, 64 wife of the late Henry H. Bell and a former resident of Atlantic died at 10:15 Thursday evening at her home in Des Moines, where she had lived the last twenty years.
Mrs. Bell had been in ill health several years and bedfast the last
two weeks.
She was born in Audubon county Oct. 26, 1881, the daughter of Wilhelm and Elizabeth Onken, and grew to womanhood there. Following her marriage to Henry H. Bell in 1900, the couple lived in the Oakfield vicinity for a number of years and then moved to
a farm near Atlantic. They resided here several years and later at Leon and Lorimor, prior to moving to Des Moines, where Mr. Bell died in 1942.
Surviving are three children, Henry C. and Glen R. Bell of Atlantic, and Miss Lowene Bell of Minneapolis; four sisters, Mrs. George Hastings and Mrs. Katherine Brewer of Atlantic, Mrs. George Andersen of Anita and Mrs. Peter Leander of Marne; a brother, Henry Onken, of Orient,
and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Hamilton funeral home in Des Moines Monday afternoon at 1:30, followed by graveside services at the Atlantic cemetery at 4:30.
