Atlantic Couple
Observes Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. George Hastings, longtime residents here, observed
their golden wedding anniversary at an open house gathering
attended by 59 relatives and friends at the court house as-
sembly room Sunday, with many unable to attend because of
inclement weather. The room was decorated in yellow and white
and two cakes were provided for the occasion by the couple's
daughter, Mrs. Harry Brewer.

On the tray was a gold decorated napkin, the gift of a grand-
daughter, Lucille Brewer.

Phyllis Auerbach presided over the guest book and Ruth Butler
was in charge of the gift table. Souvenir cards were given guests
by Shirley Butler.

Mr. Hastings and Annie L. Onken were married Dec. 6, 1898, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm Onken, a mile northeast of Brayton, the Rev. E. E. Reed of the Atlantic First Presbyterian church officiating. They were attended by Miss Bertha Onken and Ed Stoner.

Following the marriage, the couple farmed in the Atlantic vicinity until moving to Atlantic six years ago.

Mr. Hastings was born near Davenport Jan. 6, 1874, the son of the late Joseph and Clarinda Campbell Hastings and came to Cass county when he was two years old. Mrs. Hastings was born eight miles north of Atlantic July 6, 1877, the daughter of Wilhelm and Elizabeth Hardwick Onken and has resided in Audubon and Cass counties since.
