Lancaster, SC - Mrs. Barbara Joanne Ackerman Ghent, age 71, of Charlotte Highway, died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at her home. She was born September 12, 1936 in Lancaster County. Mrs. Ghent was a homemaker, a wonderful cook, wife and mother, and a member of Liberty High Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Ghent was survived by her husband, Norman Morris Ghent of the home.

Two sons, Norman Joseph "Joey" Ghent and his wife Andrea and Jeff Ghent and his wife Jean both of Lancaster, a daughter, Leigh Anne Ghent Neal and her husband Brent of Kershaw
Siblings:
Two brothers, Thomas Ackerman and his wife Jackie of Anderson and Jimmy Ackerman and his wife Mary Ellen of Lancaster, two sisters, Hazel Hegler of Lancaster and Vera Haynes and her husband Sidney also of Lancaster.
Grandchildren:
Seven grandchildren, Tyler Ghent, Lizzie Ghent, Katy Ghent, Sarah Ellen Ghent, Michael Ghent, Amy Ghent, and Countery Neal.

Mrs. Ghent was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Leonard, Lee Jr., Ted and Kenneth Ackerman and a sister, Bertie Moore.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Ghent will be 3:00 pm. Tuesday, afternoon, March 11, 2008 at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Eugene Rollins, Rev. Wayne Dickson, and Rev. Gene Ghent with burial to follow at Shiloh A.R.P. Church Cemetery.
