Theodore Joseph Dircks/Dirks was born in Germany. He is the 4th child of Johan Peter and Mary Katherina Backhaus Dircks, who immigrated to the USA in 1864. The family moved to New Market, MN. and attended St. Nicholas Church, where Theodore married a local girl, Mary M. Roehl, who was born in Minneapolis Sept. 5, 1867. Her parents immigrated from Honsfeld, Prussia. Theodore was a farmer. He and Mary had 8 children in New Market, then moved to Hinton, OK. in 1906 where their last child, Henry, was born. They moved the family to Nazareth, Tx. in 1908 and farmed there. In the late 20's or early 30's, only TJ and Mary, with Henry, moved on to Fredericksburg, Tx. for their health in warmer weather. Their children Catherine, PJ, Bill, Clara & Hilda are buried in Nazareth. Harry is buried in Hart, Tx, Mayme in Stanley, NM, Ted Jr. in San Antonio and Henry in Fredericksburg with his parents. Their grandchildren are spread throughout Texas, New Mexico and beyond. TJ is a younger brother of Mary Gertrude Dircks Jost of Vineland, NJ, also on Find A Grave. His older brothers were Bill & Herman; younger brothers Jacob & Henry, who all remained in New Market, MN. 3 other sisters died when young.
