Florence was born Freerkje Pieters Burrie to Pieter Hotses Burrie and Grietje Gerrits Houtsma on Thursday September 22, 1864 in Wijnaldum. She married Sjoerd Klazes Andrae (George Andre) on February 12, 1887 in the former Barradeel Municipality and they lived in Franeker for a few years where they had two sons, Klaas and Pieter. On 3 May 1889 they left Franeker with destination Michigan, but eventually ended up in Fair Lawn, New Jersey.
