Emil Andrew Berg, a resident of Copley Township, passed away suddenly, June 9 at the Veteran's Hospital in Fargo where he had been a patient for the past two months.
Mr. Berg was born April 7, 1875 at Joppa, Finland to parents Andrew and Christine Berg. He was married to Oline Larson on October 14, 1919, in Shevlin. They lived in Bemidji for a few years after their marriage before moving to their farm in Copley Township in 1928. Mr. Berg was a veteran of World War I and a 50 years member of the American Legion. He spent 32 years as a sailor on the Great Lakes.
Survivors include one daughter, Paulie (Mrs. Joe Balik) one son, Joseph Manitowoc, Wisconsin; one brother, Hugo, Tacoma, Washington, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1967, his parents; one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held Wednesday June 12 at faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Milan C. Davig officiating. Burial was made in the Bagley City Cemetery under the direction of the Cease Funeral home. Irvin Blix Post 16 of the American Legion was in charge of the military rites
