Eva B. (Briggs) Riding, 91, of 124 Southwest Avenue, Windsor Locks, entered into her eternal rest on Wednesday (January 6, 2010) at Parkway Pavilion in Enfield. She received tremendous care and compassion from the nursing staff at Parkway as well as the Vitas Hospice Care.

Born on July 3, 1918 in Washington, PA, Eva was the daughter of the late Jesse J. & Myrtle (Howard) Briggs.

Eva retired from the Travelers Insurance Company in 1980, where she worked in the Life Department for ten years. Prior to that she worked at the North Star Pizza in Butler, PA and worked for the Hazel Atlas #1 in Washington, PA.

Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Eva also liked to crochet blankets for her great-grandchildren and picked up her love of quilting again at the age of ninety making several quilts all by hand. Eva was proud of her two girls (Karen and Janet) for picking up her love of quilting so that they would have something in common to share. Eva also enjoyed roller skating (especially the 14 Step) and earned the Bronze Medal for her efforts. She was a ten year resident of the Windsor Locks community.

Eva is survived by her children, Virginia Leydic, John Riding and his wife Lorie, Karen Budano and her husband Patrick and Janet Leiper and her husband Ralph. Her grandchildren, Starr Corcoran (George), Dawn Leydic, Shayne Leydic, John Riding, Matthew Riding, Eric Fox (Linda), Amy Bellomy (Tom), Jeff Fox (Christa), Melissa Schwalm and Andrew Leiper and his fiancé Beth. Great-grandchildren: Christopher, Alicia, Sarah, David, Adam, Katie, Brittney, Sarah, Jessica, Nick, Dylan, and her guardian angel Abby. She also leaves her great-great-grandchildren, Andrew and Christine. Eva also leaves a sister, Fern Lambert and a brother, Charles Briggs of Washington, PA. Numerous nieces (especially Charlotte Sullivan) and nephews and a life-long friend, Lucille Lichman. Eva was predeceased by her husband Paul Riding, a sister, Mary Jones, a brother, Jesse Briggs, and great-grandson Rich Fox.

Funeral Services for Eva will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT.
