Wiley C Howard entered the CSA as a private with his brother, George H Howard about 1863, and was a member of Cobb's Legion Cavalry. He commanded Company C and surrendered near Greensboro, NC, having reached the rank of Lieutenant. In 1865 he was a lawyer in Jefferson, Jackson County, GA; served as executor of his father's will in October 1871, and lived in Atlanta (Fulton County), Turnerville (Habersham County), as well as Athens, (Clarke County, GA) where he served as a judge.

Date of death on both stones is incorrect. Death certificate and other sources indicate it is 29 Apr 1930. He enlisted as a Private, but by war's end was a Lieutenant.
