Clinton Missouri, Aug 6 1904 - The death of Mrs. W. H. Shackelford occurred at her home on North Washington Friday, July 29, 3 p.m., after a nine week illness from liver trouble. We needed her to live so badly and wanted her to live, oh, so much. An honored wife, a cherished daughter, mother of three lively children, she had everything to live for. Mrs. W. W. Bolinger, a near neighbor said of her: "she was just the best neighbor in the world .." Her consolation in her own mother's death, which occurred a short time ago, was that she had never given her an impatient or disrespectful word in her life. Her maiden name was Dora E. Lindley, daughter of J. F. Lindley and she was born in New Albany, Ind., Sept. 17, 1869; married in Evansville, Ind., September 23, 1887, to W. H. Shackelford. Two daughters, Nora Irene and Mary Martha, and one son, William Jr., were the crowning jewels of her fond mother's heart. Her father and her sisters, Misses Irene and Marie E. Lindley, were also near her heart and much loved brother, J. F., from Indianapolis, had been at her bedside the ten days previous to her death. She was buried in Englewood.
