Earnest Foster Acker, 58, of 501 Wilmer Ave., died at Anniston Memorial Hospital at 3:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 1963, after a long illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Ruhama Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Terry, Russell Godsey and Warren Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Edgemont Cemetery with Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Virtue Mae Acker; three sons, Leroy Acker, Charles Acker, and Thomas Acker of Anniston; one daughter, Mrs. Edna Acker Matthews of Anniston; his father, Lake Acker, Sr. of Piedmont, Route 1; four brothers, Fred Acker, Frank Acker, Bill Acker, and Lake Acker, Jr., all of Spring Garden; three sisters, Mrs. D. Alex Johnson (Hycie) of Piedmont, Mrs. Catherine Hunt of Piedmont, and Mrs. John Studdard (Gillie) of Clanton; and ten grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bill Jones, Rex Chilton, Bob Woodall, Clinton Rainwater, Cecil McDonald and Richard Box. Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Marshall, Harmon Lane, C. J. Pruett, and members of the Men's Bible Class of Ruhama Baptist Church.
Mr. Acker had resided in Anniston for 22 years and was a co-owner of Acker Cabinet Shop. He was a member of Ruhama Baptist Church. Mr. Acker was preceded in death by his mother, Emily Victoria Formby Acker of Piedmont.
