Jessie Anna Turner McDuffie was born in Lithia Springs, Ga. Sept. 6, 1878. She was the daughter of Marcus Turner and Rhoda Ann Daugherty Turner. Mr. Turner was a farmer and Mrs. Turner was the daughter of Irish Immigrants who owned a tannery in Marietta but later moved to Atlanta. After the death of her husband Mrs. Daugherty ran a boarding house where the Federal Reserve Bank now stands on Marietta St.
Jessie McDuffie was a member of the First Methodist Church of East Point and a charter member of the East Point Woman's Club and the Order of the Eastern Star, Fulton Chapter, #181.
