Mrs. Amanda Coons fell early Monday morning and broke her hip. She was taken to the Belleville hospital where she is under the care of Dr. Biederwell.

AMANDA M. COONS

Amanda M. Coons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.E. Zook, was born in Nemaha, Nebraska, February 12, 1861 and departed this life at Belleville, Kansas hospital April 21, 1950, at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 9 days.

Mrs. Coons grew to womanhood in and around Nemaha. She made the good confession at the age of 15 and was emersed (sic) and became a member of the body of Christ. She placed her membership at the church here in Chester when she moved here in January 1896 and located on a farm 6 miles southwest of town. She held fast to her faith until death. Mr. and Mrs. Coons moved into town in 1925 to make their home.

She was united in marriage to John M. Coons February 8, 1882. To this union eight children were born, Nellie Moxham and Frank of Chester; Roy of Meruno, Colorado; Floyd and Della of Belleville, Kansas and Mrs. Ruth Curry, Ogallala, Nebraska. Harry and Clarence proceeded her in death, Harry in 1918 while in the armed services and Clarence in 1933. Her husband proceeded her in death November 4, 1934. Besides these living children she leaves to mourn her parting ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Christian church (sic) in Chester, Rev. C.M. Foust officiating. A quartet composed of Mrs. Reta Thompson, Doris Hartman, E.A. Moxham and Ray Truss accompanied by Mrs. Frieda Truss. Pallbearers were Frank Larkins, Geo. Moxham, Joe Hunt, Harry Hunt, Harry Salisbury and R.J. Whitman. Interment was made in the Chester cemetery (sic).
