Belle and Palace had three children in KY prior to going to IL where they appeared on the 1900 census, farmers, in Greene Co. near Roodhouse. They returned to KY and bought 25 acres on the Stanford-Hustonville Road about two miles from Stanford in Dec 1916.
After the death of Palace, Belle lived with daughter Edith before moving to Waynesburg and living in a house owned by her sister Elsie. I visited Aunt Belle quite often and spent nights with her while attending Waynesburg High School close by. I thought the house was great you could have water in the house from a pump with a handle mounted near the kitchen sink.
Daughter Edith is not shown below. She was born 1903-1905 in IL. She married James J. Peek 3 June 1924 in Stanford, KY. They had a daughter, Lida Belle, born 30 June 1927 in Lincoln Co. KY. Edith and James were living on E. Broadway in Louisville, KY in the 1930's. Edith was listed as Mrs. Henry Compton, living in Hodgenville, KY in 1962 when her brother Orus died. She was not listed as a surviving sister of Homer when he died in 1968.
Mattie Belle died at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Ky.
