DEATH OF MRS. MACE REYNOLDS
Death has again entered our community and has taken a loved one from our midst. Artie Mace Mercer was born March 10, 1865, and was married to James F. Reynolds December 29, 1887. Died August 29, 1927. Age 62 years, five months, 19 days. Her husband, James F. Reynolds, died December 7th, 1905.
She leaves seven children to mourn the loss of a good mother. Wallace V. Reynolds, of Kansas City, Mo., Bruce E. Reynolds, of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Ora B. Johnson, Mt. Ranier, Md., Roy E. Reynolds, Murrayville Ill., Hubert G. Reynolds, Detroit, Mich., Ivan Reynolds, Rockbridge, Ill., and John Henry Reynolds, of Waynesburg.
She is survived by the following sisters: Mrs. Sarah Mullins, Mrs. Bell Reynolds and Mrs. Elsie Lewis, of Stanford, and Mrs. Manda Reynolds, Bee Lick.
She was a member of the Bethel Christian Church at Bee Lick since the age of 16 years, and was a good Christian woman and loved by all who knew her.
The children had planned a family home-coming and all were here at the time except one son, Wallace, who was delayed in coming. Mrs. Reynolds had been in ill health for some time, but was much better, and no one thought the end was so near. Monday morning she and the children were to go to visit a sister in Stanford and she died while dressing for the trip.
The funeral service was held in the home near Waynesburg, by Rev. Duran Smallwood, and the remains were laid to rest in the Double Springs cemetery Wednesday afternoon. A large crowd was present and many beautiful flowers were placed on the grave. The community extends their sympathy to the bereaved family in their great sorrow, and that their joyful home-coming ended so sadly, for home will never be the same again and mother gone. E.S.
