She was born in Tuscumbia, Mo. on June 13, 1918, the daughter of the late William Bassman and Pearl (Zena) Vaughn.
She was the widow of Homer H. Helmich. They were married July 13, 1940 at St. Louis. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2003.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Strubberg and husband, James, of Linn, Charlotte Ward and husband, Robert, of Raytown, and Cheryl Ketteman and husband, Tom, of Glencoe, Mo.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann. She was co-owner, along with her husband, of Western Auto in Hermann for many years.
Burial will be at Hermann Cemetery in Hermann.
