Mrs. Jo Ann Donaldson, age 69 of Gatesville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 14, 2005, surrounded by her loving family.
She fulfilled her purpose in her generation through a legacy of teaching and serving the Lord.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, at the First Baptist Church of Gatesville with the Rev. Tim Crosby and Jonathan Ford officiating.
Burial was at Restland Cemetery.
Jo Ann was born on May 17, 1936, to Robert and Bertha Edwards Eason in Potter County, Texas.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in May of 1957.
She married W.H. Donaldson on July 5,1957, in Belton, Texas.
Jo Ann taught various grade levels for 35 years, with 25 years in Gatesville Public Schools, where she was one of the first kindergarten teachers at Gatesville Primary in 1971.
She was instrumental in the founding of Gatesville Christian Academy, where she was a teacher and administrator for seven years.
Jo Ann was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she served many years as Children's Director for the Sunday School. She started Bible Drill at Trinity, which was the perfect blending of her love of children and God's Word. She loved her church and her church family!
She spent many years teaching Bible study at the prison, including visiting inmates in segregation.
Jo Ann loved her family more than anything. She was the proud and loving mother of four children: Carla, Kari, Billy, and Candi. She was a beloved grandmother to six precious grandchildren: Marcus, Allie, Rachel, Jordan, Jonathan, and Nathaniel.
She was known as a prayer warrior and a woman of faith.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bill Donaldson of Gatesville; children, Carla Donaldson of Gatesville, Kari Dingler and husband Marc of Flower Mound, William H. (Billy) Donaldson, Jr. and wife Roz of Pflugerville, and Candi Stryker and husband Andrew of Waco; sister, Mildred Harvey and husband T.G. of Pasadena, TX; brothers, Robert Eason and wife Sue of Friendswood and K.T. Eason and wife Ann of Jackson, MS; grandchildren, Marcus, Rachel, and Jonathan Dingler, Allie and Nathaniel Stryker and Jordan Donaldson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
