Ellen Eure Chauvin wrote the following of her parents and grandparents:

"Ruby married Robert Lee Eason on January 18, 1919. They were divorced less than a year later. According to my father, Koke Thomas Eason, there were no jobs to be found in Hattiesburg, MS, so Robert had to go to Texas and find jobs in the oilfield. Ruby's mother, Nelia, did not let her go with Robert, so they divorced. Ruby was Nelia's only daughter and her mom didn't want her moving so far away. Robert always tried to keep in touch with his son, but Ruby never gave him the letters and gifts that were sent.

My father didn't realize his dad was Robert Eason until after he graduated from high school. His mother never gave him the letters and gifts his Dad sent from Texas. As a matter of fact, my father took the last name of Ruby's second husband (Eure). His graduation picture from high school listed him as 'Koke Thomas Eure.' After my Dad graduated from high school he found a job and started working. One day after work a man came up to him and said, 'Son, have you ever heard of Robert Eason?' Dad said the name sounded somewhat familiar, but he didn't know any Robert Eason. And the man said, 'Well, I'm Robert Eason, and I'm your father!'"
