Rites Friday For Mrs. Holmes

Mrs. Gena Holmes died Wednesday, February 4, at Walthall County General Hospital after an extended illness of almost four years. She was 84.

Services were held at 11 o'clock Friday morning at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. V. T. Morgan and the Rev. Hubert Barnett officiating. Music was by Mrs. V. T. Morgan and Mrs. and Mrs. Carl Dunaway with Mrs. J. T. Waldrop as pianist.

Interment was in Antioch Cemetery.

Born in 1891, Mrs. Holmes was a lifetime resident of Marion County. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manson Holmes in 1955, and two children, a son, Need Holmes in 1968, and a daughter, Mrs. Shep Taylor (Francis) in 1974.

Survivors are five sons, Billie, Henry, Lewis, Dempsey, and Manson Holmes, Jr., and four daughters, Mrs. Glen Tynes, Mrs. Woodrow Morris, Mrs. Loyd Mulford, and Mrs. Lee Bullock, all of Marion County; 25 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jackie Raynes, Clifton McDaniel, Glen Dale Tynes, Greg Crump, all grandsons, Joe Holmes, Harold Holmes, Roy Holmes, and Edd Holmes, nephews.
