Tilmon was the oldest child of Charlie Wilson, Sr and Laurena Turner Wilson. He was educated in the Houston County School System. He was co-owner of the R.N.T. Funeral Home in Warner Robins, GA (now known as Richardson & Son). He also retired from Flint Electric and drove school busses for the Houston County Board of Education for a number of years. He was a member of Sandbed Baptist Church in Kathleen, Georgia, where he was Ordained as a Deacon.
He was married to Louise Carden Wilson on December 26, 1934, they had 1 daughter.

Services were held Wednesday, June 30,1976 at 2pm in the Sanctuary of Sandbed Baptist Church in Kathleen, Georgia with Rev C.J. Andrews officiating.
