ARTHUR F. "SONNY" BERTHOLD, 70, died Thursday, October 28, 1993 in a Corpus Christi hospital after a long illness.
He was a resident of Freer for over 26 years, and was retired from G&G Construction of Freer after 13 years employment..
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mrs. Norma Jean Berthold of Freer; 3 sons, Larry Hensley of Freer, Frankie Neal Berthold of Ackeraley [sic], Texas, and Artie Berthold of Alice; 4 daughters, Debbie Schane and Donna Hensley both of Freer, Janice Lynn Berthold of Austin and Gloria Vivian Smith of Ingleside; 2 sisters, Minnie Mae Collum of San Antonio and Alma Coley of Beeville; 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 1993 at the Garza Funeral Home in Freer with Brother Herrington officiating. Burial followed at the Hahl Memorial Cemetery in Freer under the direction of Garza Funeral Home of Freer.
Pallbearers were: Joe Schane, Tommy Wilson, George Cremar, Freddie McPherson, Ruperto "Petis" Serna, and Lester Shaw.

Survivors include his wife, Norma, three sons, Larry Hensley of Freer, Frankie Berthold of Ackeraley [sic] and Artie Berthold of Alice; four daughters, Debbie Schane and Donna Hensley, both of Freer, Janice Berthold of Alice and Gloria Smith of Ingleside; two sisters, Minnie Collum of San Antonio and Alma Coley of Beeville; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 31 at Garza Funeral Home, Freer. Burial will be in Hahl Memorial Cemetery.
