Funeral Services for Otto John Berthold Held Monday Afternoon.
Otto John Berthold, 77, retired farmer of Beeville, died at his home, 1201 North Live Oak Street, at 8:45 p.m. Friday, October 13, after a one-week illness. He had resided in Bee County 60 years.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Galloway-Wilson funeral chapel. The Rev. C. E. Namkin, Baptist minister, officiated. Pallbearers were Rudolph Muller, Joe Coley, Jr., John Haynes, Ross Haynes, A. A. Teel and Edgar Range. Mrs. W. H. Peterson sang Rock of Ages, with Mrs. B. C. Brown playing the organ accompaniment. Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Berthold was born October 3, 1884, in Colorado County, Texas, a son of Charley and Minnie (Sheller) [sic] Berthold. He moved to Bee County in 1901 [sic] and lived in the Skidmore community until nine years ago, when he moved to Beeville. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.
The survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Collum of Rockport and Mrs. Alma Coley of Beeville; two sons, A. F. Berthold of Beeville and Sgt. Harry A. Berthold of Victorville, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Lede Bettge of Corpus Christi and Mrs. Leona Mick of St. Paul, Texas; one brother, Julius Berthold of Berclair, and 11 grandchildren.

Among his survivors is a sister, Mrs. Lede Bettge of Corpus Christi. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Galloway-Wilson Funeral Chapel. The Rev. C.F. Nampkin, pastor of the Beeville Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. A resident of Bee County, the past 60 years, Berthold was born in Colorado County, Texas. He was a retired farmer. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Collumn of Rockport and Mrs. Alma Coley of Beeville; two sons, A.F. Berthold of Beeville and Staff Sgt. Harry A. Berthold of Victorville, Calif.; another sister, Leona Mick of St Paul, Texas; a brother, Julius Berthold of Berclair, and 11 grandchildren.

He had three brothers (one older and two younger) all three died in childhood before the move from Colorado County to Bee County, which move was actually in 1891. Bee County 1900 census mistakenly says Minnie has had five children and all five were still living. Julius, Lede, Frank and Leona were all born in Skidmore, Bee County, Texas.
