Mrs. Faye Neal Blackwelder, 92, of 359 Mark Trail Lane, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Riverview Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Jim McGill officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery.
A native of York County, Mrs. Blackwelder is the daughter of the late William Thomas Neal and Bertha Stowe Neal. She was retired from Springs Industries after many years of employment and was a member of Riverview Presbyterian Church where she was the oldest member. She was devoted to her husband, the late Henry Phillip Blackwelder, and a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren. When she passed away, the Atlanta Braves lost their biggest fan.
She is survived by a son, Donald "Blackie" Blackwelder of Fort Mill; two daughters, Geraldine "Gerrie" Merritt and Linda Houston, both of Fort Mill; one sister, Vivian Murphy of Indian Land; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ted Houston and a son-in-law, Charles Houston.
The family will receive friends tonight, from 6 until 8 at the church and other times at the residence.
