Longtime Monte Vista, Colo. resident Carl Edward Stuber, 92, died Dec. 3, 2009 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa. Carl was born Oct. 15, 1917 in Pekin, Ill. to Walter and Emilia Riggenbach Stuber. He married Pauline Rader on Jan. 8, 1941 in Monte Vista.

Carl worked for many years for the United States Postal Service as a clerk. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Legion Post #53 and was also an active member of the First Christian Church as well as the B.P.O.E #2456, all in Monte Vista. His hobbies were bowling, fishing, gardening, and he thoroughly enjoyed watching sports on the television.

Carl is survived by his children Tom (Judy) Stuber of Thornton, Cheryl Fogg of Eaton and David (Virginia) Stuber of Alamosa as well as by seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

His wife Pauline, his son Paul Stuber, his brothers and sisters Mildred Newcombe, Evelyn O'Toole, George Stuber, Junior Stuber, Gloria Wilson and Norma Boutwell all preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held from 12-noon until service time followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Mon., Dec. 7, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Monte Vista. Interment will follow services in the Monte Vista Cemetery.
