JOSEPH CLIFFORD "SONNY" LAMKIN, 65, Mt. Washington, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at Baptist Hospital East - Louisville. He was born April 30, 1940, in New Hope, a veteran of the United States Army and retired in 1995 after 31 years with Inland Containers in Louisville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Rita Boone Lamkin; a brother, Paul Roger Lamkin; a sister, Rose Mary Ehrler. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Polly Clayton Lamkin; a son, Matthew Lamkin, Mt. Washington, a granddaughter; his father, Alvin Lamkin, New Hope; a sister, Chickie McCarthy, Troutman, N.C.; and four brothers, William Edward "Bill" Lamkin, Raton, N.M., Patrick Wayne "Pat" Lamkin, Elmwood, Tenn., Charles Ernest "Ernie" Lamkin, and Michael Anthony "Mike" Lamkin, both of New Hope. The funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, New Hope, with burial in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery. The Marion County Honor Guard will perform military rites at the cemetery. The Rev. Jeffrey P. Leger will be chief celebrant. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Monday at Mattingly Funeral Home including a vigil service at 7 p.m. Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
