JOSEPH ALVIN LAMKIN, 91, New Hope, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at his residence. He was born Sept. 3, 1915, in Raywick. He was a retired employee of J. W. Dant Distillery and retired farmer. He was preceded in death by wife, Nancy Rita Boone Lamkin; a daughter, Rose Mary Ehrler; two sons, Joseph Clifford "Sonny" Lamkin and Paul Roger Lamkin; his father, Edward Stanislaus Lamkin Sr.; and his mother, Anna Agnes McAttee Lamkin. Survivors include a daughter, Chickie McCarthy, Charlotte, N.C.; four sons, William Edward "Bill" Lamkin, Raton, New Mexico, Patrick Wayne "Pat" Lamkin, Elmwood, Tenn., Charles Ernest "Ernie" Lamkin, Shepherdsville, and Michael Anthony "Mike" Lamkin, New Hope; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, New Hope, with burial in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery. The Rev. Deacon Edward Hutchins will officiate. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Thursday at Mattingly Funeral Home. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Mattingly Funeral Home. Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
