Mrs. Cynthia Maxine (Thornsberry) Wendt, 58, of 2206 W. Fifth St., Sedalia, a former Miller County resident, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 2, 1979, at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston, Tex. She had gone to Houston for a holiday visit with a daughter and family.
Mrs. Wendt was born Feb. 4, 1920 at Ulman, a daughter of W. E. and Lena (Hawkins) Thornsberry. She was married July 28, 1946 at Brumley to Charles S. Wendt who survives at the home in Sedalia.
She had lived in Sedalia 30 years and taught at Heber Hunt School there for 16 years prior to her retirement in September 1978. Mrs. Wendt had attended Iberia Junior College and graduated from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg.
She was a member of the First Christian Church at Sedalia, and of the Sedalia Chapter of the American Diabetes Assn.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Penny) Berger of Houston, Tex., and Cynthia Wendt and Becky Wendt, both of Kansas City; one brother, James Thornsberry of Brumley; one sister, Mrs. Jean Marker of Harlingen, Tex.; one granddaughter, Kimberly Berger, and two nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia with the Rev. Robert Magee officiating. Burial will be in the Hawkins family cemetery, Brumley, where graveside services will be held. Visitation will be from 8 to 9 o'clock tonight (Thursday) at the McLaughlin Chapel, Sedalia.
The family has suggested memorials to the American Diabetes Association and Research.
