Mary Delvina Laramie was born in Grand Rapids (Wisconsin Rapids as of 1900), Wood County, Wisconsin and lived on a farm on the Wisconsin River. Her family moved to Charles City, Iowa sometime between 1866 and 1880. In 1881 they moved to Crookston, MN. The trip took 6 weeks in a covered wagon. They settled in Argyle, Marshall County, Minnesota. During this time Pierre worked in the Camp at Winnipeg with Dosithe Tessier. At age 15, Delvina married Dosithe Tessier, age 25. Dosithe died in 1934 at age 76 from complications of a stroke suffered 10 years earlier. Delvina died five years later at age 73 of a brain hemorrhage caused by atherosclerosis .
