Francis was a son of John C. and Katherine (O'Bryan) Meriwether. He married Laura Mae Miller on 22 Nov 1935 in Jefferson County, Texas; they were the parents of eight children: Francis, Mildred, May, Mary, John, Ita, Wanda and Alice. Francis and Laura divorced and on 12 Oct 1961 Francis married Leota Ferm (Hawkins) Reynolds. They had no children.
