H.B. Crouch, LEGISLATOR IN 1913, Morgan Pioneer, Civic Leader Dies At Home.
MORGAN, Jan 21 - H.B. Crouch, 81, Morgan pioneer, prominent civic leader and worker in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died at his home at 2:45 A.M. Wednesday. Mr. Crouch, president of the Morgan First National Bank for 12 years, engaged in wholesale and retail meat business here for 30 years
He served one term in 1913 in the state legislature, was mayor of Morgan one term, and served as a city councilman. He was instrumental, while in public office, in getting roads constructed in the area. Active in LDS church affairs. Mr. Crouch spent 2 1/2 years on mission in Virginia, and was Morgan Stake president of the Young Men's Mutal Improvement Assn. for 12 years. He also, served 17 years in the ward bishopric. He was born March 21, 1866, in Morgan, a son of Ebenezer and Sarah Russell Crouch. He married Josephine Olpin in the Logan LDS Temple on Oct. 12, 1887, Mrs. Crouch died Jan. 31, 1943. He is survived by the following sons and daughters: E. Malvin Crouch, Croydon, Morgan county; Wesley Crouch, Mrs. Sarah Myrtle Arnold and Mrs. Iola Meade Taylor, Ogden; Herbert H. and Allison Crouch and Mrs. Phyllis Call, all of Morgan; a granddaughter, Mrs. Betty Smith, Centerville, Davis county, who Mr. and Mrs. Crouch reared; 17 other grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a half brother, charles A. Crouch Blackfoot, Idaho. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday in the Morgan LDS tabernacle by Frank B. Rich bishop of Morgan LDS Ward, Friends may call at the family home in Morgan Friday after noon and evening and Saturday until 1:30 P.M. Burial in Morgan cemetery will directed by Lindquist & Sons Mortuary.
