Winona Prothro

Winona Prothro, daughter of Alfred Lee George and Alice Jenkins, was born August 5, 1930, in Thayer County; and died on September 23, 2005, at the Republic County Hospital.

She received her education in area rural schools and later attended Belleville High School, graduating in 1949. On March 13, 1950, she married Lloyd Prothro and to this union two children were born.

She was a waitress at the Kravemore 36 and 81 and also the Bel Villa Restaurant for 25 years. She managed the Eagles and was an assistant manager for the Country Club for five years. She was also a cashier at Shop Quik and National Marketing for five years.

She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Belleville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Donald Dean George and Doyle Lee George; two sisters, Wanda Deloris Craig and Wilma Doris George; and one grandchild, Elisha.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Lee Hudson of Aurora, CO; son, Alan Prothro of Belleville; sister, Roma Francis of Mission; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

Services were held on September 26, at the Central Christian Church in Belleville conducted by Pastor Mark Imel. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery, Chester, NE.
