Hugh "Hotshot" Lutner, 87, of Lake City, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Lutner was born Oct. 2, 1913, in Anderson County, the son of Clint and Mary Inas Brummett Lutner.

He was a retired coal miner and was also retired from Clinton Home Center.

Mr. Lutner was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. His family said he loved to hunt, fish, watch wrestling and talk on his citizens band radio. They described him as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his son, Hugh E. Lutner and his wife, Maxine; his daughter, Betty Lutner; and his sister, Flossie Brown, all of Lake City.

Mr. Lutner is also survived by his grandsons, Lee Lutner and his wife, Myra, and Michael Lutner and his wife, Teresa; his granddaughter, Ann Lutner Warwick and her husband, Jackie; his great-grandchildren, Cody Lutner, Marissa Lutner, Emily Lutner and Jessica Palland; and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Verdie Reynolds Lutner, preceded him in death. Two other sisters and two brothers, Naomie Mitts, Flora Sparks, Frank Lutner and Robert Mitts, also died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Feb. 15, in the chapel of Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Howard Robbins officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
