Mr. Burns, who was born and reared in Sandersville, had been living in this community about thirty-three years. He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church. When he was a young man he joined the famous Sisters Church in Washington County transferring his membership to Glennville when he settled here. Also he was a mason and a member of the welfare board of Tattnall County.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jennie Kicklighter Burns; two sons, A.D. Burns, Jr., and Curtis M. Burns, all of Glennville; a daughter, Mrs. R.E. Townsend of Bloomington, Ind.; four grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. W.S. Meadows, of Glennville; two half sisters, Mrs. W.F. Outlaw of Wrightsville and Mrs. George Barbe of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and a half brother, B.D. Bedgood of Vidalia.
Funeral services were conducted for him at the First Baptist Church Tuesday, at 4:30, by Rev. Charles D. Stewart and Rev. W.B. Screws. Burial was in the City Cemetery directed by Rimes Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Julian Dutton, Joe Boy Hughes, Aubrey Sikes, C.W. Kicklighter, Jr., Cyril Burkhalter and Joe Creech. Honorary pallbearers were John Moore, Allen J. Beasley, Joe B.
