John W. Brooks Sr., 62, of Katy Texas, died Tuesday Feb 25, 1997 in the Hermann Heart Hospital, Houston, Texas,following a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 30, 1934, in Industry, a son of the late Charles Sr. and Mary Jonas Brooks, he was a resident of Katy for the past 10 years, and was a former employee of the J&L Division of the LTV Steel Corp., Aliquippa Works.

Surviving are his wife, Cheryl Smolnery Brooks; four sons, John Jr., Midland; Michael, Beaver Falls, Steven, Fayetteville, Pa., and Kenneth, Aliquippa; two daughters, Mrs. Launa Wetzel, Beaver; and Mrs Martin (Rebecca) White, Industry Borough; 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandson; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and June Brooks, East Liverpool, OH; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Delores and Herman Boyer, and Lavina and Armand LeFebvre, all of Ohioview Borough; Pat and Paul Fitzgerald, New Castle, and Mary Margaret (Peggy) Brooks, Industry Borough; and special friends, George, Leslie and Mikki Rash, and Jerry and Wendy Pettit and children.

Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a service will be conducted Friday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Baden.

Interment will follow in the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Economy.
