Alvah Stoops, 85, died Sunday evening at 11:30 o'clock in his home, 776 Congress Street, following a year and a half illness from complications.
Mr. Stoops was a former employee of the Big Four Railroad and retired afater 37 years service. He was later employed for 20 years as custodian of the Christian Church. He has been a resident of Wabash for 59 years, was a member of the Christian Church and the Moose Lodge.
He was born Oct. 1, 1860 to Samuel and Sarah (Crow) Stoops. His marriage to Martha Cox took place in Miami County Nov. 18, 1883.
Survivors include the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Irvin Fosnough, Wabash R.R.5, one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Schlegelmilch, Tampa, Fla., one brother, Edward Stoops, North Manchester; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Jones Funeral Home and burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the family home after Monday afternoon.
