Born February 27, 1928 in Flint River Township, he was the son of Harry C. and Stella Mae Ruschill Lucas. On April 17, 1954 he married Jean Buck at St. John's Church of Flint River Township.
Mr. Lucas helped his father with the farm, and worked at the Sperry Union Store & Elevator. He graduated from Sperry High School Class of 1946. He worked as a machinist for J.I. Case Company for 26 years retiring in 1990. He served in the Army during the upcoming Korean Conflict in the Asiatic Pacific May of 1946 until October of 1947. He was a member of St. John's Church of Flint River Township, Moose Lodge #579, Eagles Club, Life Member VFW Post 10102 and 9162. He enjoyed search a word, playing cards, and his grandchildren. He loved Bluegrass and Country Western Music.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Connie Smith of Bonaparte; one son, Randy (Vickie) Lucas of West Burlington; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three sisters, Marcie Walker of Flagler Beach, FL; Erma Baker and Shirley Granaman of Sperry;
He was preceded in death by parents, one sister and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 9 am to 8 p.m. Monday November 30th in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends following Moose Rites which will be conducted at 6 p.m.
The funeral service for Mr. Russell H. Lucas will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 1st at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Cindy Johnson will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be in St.John's Cemetery of Flint River Township.
