United States Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1822.
"Died – on Tuesday, at Williamson's Hotel, after a lingering illness, Lieutenant William Rose, of the United States Army. It may be a consolation to friends to be informed that every attention was paid to him during his long and painful indisposition. He was buried with military honors – the officers of the army, the navy, and the marine corps, from Washington and Georgetown, attending his remains to the place of sepulture. Lieut. Rose belonged to this city. He was graduated at West Point, with distinguished honor, about four years since. He was a most estimable young man, both as an officer and a gentleman, and what will increase the circle of mourners, is the fact of his recent marriage to a lady in Pittsburgh, the only daughter of John Irwin, Esq."
