PLAINS - Services were to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Plains Alliance Church with burial to follow at the Plains Cemetery for Raymond John , Nov. 4, 1993, Lewis, 81, of Plains who died Tuesday, July 13, of natural causes at Clark Fork Valley Nursing Home.
The son of John and Helen Lewis, he was born December 7, 1911 in Minneapolis and North Dakota. He worked on the construction of the Fort Peck dam, and in logging and lumber milles, retiring from Diehl Lumber Co.
He was a vet from WWII, serving in the Army Corps of Engineers in Europe and moved to Plains in February of 1946.
He and Glenna Campbell were married in Plains August 2, 1947.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and played baseball for the VFW team in 1946 and later coached Little League.
He was a member of the Plains Alliance Church which he helped build.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna Lewis, Plains; two daughters, Helen Ovitt, Plains, and Ellen Marten, Great Falls; two sisters, Thelma Wright, Long Lake, Minn.; and Avis Gloff, Rodeo, Calif.; two brothers, Bob Lewis, Townsend, and Kenneth Olson, Waupun, Wis.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Olson.
Memorials may be made to the Plains Alliance Memorial Gymnasium fund.
Coffelt-Bunch Funeral Services were in charge of arrangements.
