Sallie M Mooney was born about 1860 (per 1870 US Census) to John F Mooney and Lucinda S Collier. She married H H Segrest around 1880. They had at least 6 children.

Sallie may have died in childbirth in 1898, as her grave marker inscription indicates that an infant son is buried with her. No dates are given for the infant.

Sallie was originally interred at New Bayview Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas. On April 11, 1925 she was moved to Rose Hill Cemetery, along with her husband Dr. H. H. Segrest, and reinterred beside him in the large Segrest family plot. Most of their children are also buried in the same plot, as well as Sallie's mother Mrs. L. S. Crews.

A VERY SAD AFFAIR
Death of Mrs. H. H. Segrest In This City Yesterday
A gloom was cast over our little city yesterday by the unexpected announcement of the death of Mrs. H. H. Segrest, who passed away at 2:49 o'clock p.m., conscious almost to the last. It was sad, indeed, as it always is when a devoted wife and mother is called away from a home of little ones.
Mrs. Segrest, whose maiden name was Sallie Margaret Mooney, was born in Claiborne county, Mississippi, Oct. 15, 1862. In 1874 she joined the Fort Gibson Baptist church, living a faithful member of the Baptist church the rest of her life. On November, 27, 1879, she was married to Dr. H. H. Segrest, moving to Corpus Christi in September, 1896, with her husband and family. Besides her bereaved husband and widowed mother, she leaves six children, most of them small – one an infant – to mourn her loss. She also leaves one brother, Allen Mooney, Esq., of Woodville, Texas. She was resigned to her fate and was ready to go; her only regret was leaving her family.
The funeral takes place this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the Baptist church to the new Bay View cemetery.
The entire community deeply sympathize with the husband and family in their irreparable loss.
