PEDESTRIAN KILLED WHEN CROSSING STREET
Card in Pocket indicates He Is August H. Suedmeyer-Driver Held
A man, whose pockets contained a card bearing the name of August Henry Suedmeyer, was killed last night when he was struck by a machine at Shaw boulevard and Thurman Avenue. The card, issued by a butcher's union, gave an address of 4125A Shaw and indicated the bearer was 63 years old. Officers said Robert W. Schulz, the driver, told them he was headed west on Shaw as the man was crossing from the south to the north side of the street. He said the man stepped in front of his machine and he was unable to stop in time to avoid the accident. Schulz, who is 17 years old, and lives at 6174 McPherson Avenue was held for the coroner.
