~Armistead Bennett~

Born on 18 December, 1843 at 8:00 p.m.
(per Elder Daniel Parker family records)
Parents were Miles and Rachel Parker Bennett.
Rachel died 23 December, 1843 after childbirth.
Rachel was the 1st person buried in Pilgrim Cemetery.
She was the daughter of Elder Daniel and Martha "Patsey" Dickerson Parker.

It has always been stated that baby Armistead died at birth or about the same time as his mother Rachel, and is buried with her. Had this been so, he would have been listed on her tombstone as well.
____

This cannot be true. In the will of Elder Daniel Parker, written and signed 12 April 1844.

Item 2nd: Provided my grandson, Armistead Bennett, son to
Miles Bennett and my daughter Rachel, should live to the age of twenty one years, I will and bequeath to that child one hundred and sixty acres of land, bounded North by the league line, on which I now live. Eastwardly by a divide line now direct across about the middle of said survey; Southwardly by the line of a three hundred and twenty acre tract of land which I have deeded to Miles Bennett, and Westwardly by a line that will include the one hundred and sixty acres. But should the child die before that age, said land returns to my other heirs. If you go by the will written by Daniel Parker in 1844, Armistead would have been 20 years of age then. What happened to him?
____

1850 CEMSUS ANDERSON COUNTY, TEXAS;
#46
Miles Bennett 34 male b. IND.
Laura Jordan 20 female ILL.
Armstead 0 male Hou. Tex.
Armstead 6 male Hou. Tex. (someone transcribed this and changed the 0 to 6. This is the way it was copied so it had been done a lot of years before. Is this their first child Levi, or is it Armistead, son of Miles and Rachel?

Their first child Levi was born in 1850.

~~This particular census has maiden names, birth places, dates, marriage dates, states, all written in. It had to be done by someone who had knowledge of these people.~~

Armistead is not recorded anywhere after that.
He was probably buried beside his mother.
