LINCOLN - Curtis W. Whitney, 74, husband of Nancy (Dalrymple) Whitney, passed away Nov. 19, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 5, 1935, in Chester, the son of Harry A. and Minnie A. (Ireland) Whitney. Curt was a lifelong truck driver, dedicating more than 20 years of his career to Orland Dwelley & Son.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by five sons, Jim Whitney of Harpswell, Blaine Whitney and his wife, Tammy, of Corinth, Rick Whitney and his wife, Sue, of Colchester, Conn., Tom Whitney and Linda McBreairty of Hermon and Jon Whitney and Kim Springer of Lincoln; eight grandchildren, Alan Whitney and his wife, Erica, Laci and her husband, Brandon Daigle, Steven Whitney, Broc Whitney and his wife, Snow, Michael Whitney, Brooke and her husband, Andrew Teasdale, Katrina Bergeron and Cheryl Roesing; seven great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Chloe and Jacoby Daigle, Zebulun and Lydia Whitney, and Elisha and Esther Teasdale; siblings, Donald Whitney and his wife, Ida, Mabel Jordan, and Harlan Whitney and his wife, Pauline, all of Chester, Robert Whitney and his wife, Faye, of Brunswick, Erma Tash of Howland and Stuart Whitney and his wife, Gail, of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Marilyn Whitney of Chester; brother-in-law, Ronald McComb of Lincoln; many nieces and nephews. He also leaves three special children in his life, Whitney and Kiana Hafford and Emmy-Lou Fiske; as well as one whom he thought of as a son, Joe Grant.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Larry Whitney; and siblings, Perley and Roscoe Whitney, Harriet Fahey, Irene Jordan, Charles Whitney, Leona McComb and Hollis Whitney.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Keith Cushman officiating. Interment will be at South Chester Cemetery. (Bangor Daily News 11/21/2009)
