Julia Hikel, 90, of Elm Mott passed away Thursday, Mar. 10 in Temple.
Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Saturday March 12, at St. Mary's Cemetery in West with Monsignor Isidore Rozycki officiating. Visitation will be 10 am to 12 Noon, Saturday, March 12 at Bellmead Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hikel was born April 5, 1920 in Smetana Community near Bryan, TX to Frank Joseph and Albina (Zalobney) Regmund. She attended school in Bryan and married Rudolph E. Hikel Sr. on February 16, 1946.
She was a civil service aircraft mechanic during WWII at the Air Force Base in Bryan. She was called upon to provide a special service because her hand was small enough to fit in a tight area on the aircraft.
They moved to Elm Mott in the 1970's and raised cattle. After her husband preceded her in death she went to work at Waco ISD and Plantation Foods for several years. She was a wonderful cook with an expertise in making Kolaches, had a love for Elvis and enjoyed making homemade quilts.
Mrs. Hikel was preceded in death by her husband; 2 sisters Olga and Emma Urbanovsky; 2 brothers Fred and Raymond Regmund; and several half brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Judith Little and husband Robert and Rose Williams all of Temple; son Rudolph E. Hikel II and wife Beth of Elm Mott; grandchildren Sarah Little, Anthony Little, Daniel Williams, Amy Hikel Hanshew and Rudolph E. Hikel III; great grandson Rudolph E. Hikel IV and several nieces and nephews.
