My Great-grandmother is the 3rd of 9 children born to Ezra Augustine CARPENTER (1836 OH - 1916 KS) and Susannah 'Susan' BATDORF (1845 OH - 1923 KS). Eleven children were born to Effie and Joe WALKER.

MRS. EFFIE WALKER

Mrs. Effie (Carpenter) Walker of 424 West 2nd St., aged 88, died at her home last night about midnight. Born April 28, 1867, at Wellsville, she had lived in this area most of her life, and in Ottawa for 35 years.

Mrs. Walker was the widow of Joseph A. Walker who died in 1950. She was a member of the First Methodist church and of Friendship Circle club. She had been a member of Merry-Go-Round club for 35 years.

Survivors are four sons, Lytle R., Lawrence E., and Emory C. Walker, El Paso, Tex.; and Lewis F. Walker, Wichita; four daughters, Mrs. Fairy E. Lane, Wichita; Mrs. Evalina Hammond, Denver; Mrs. Dan Wilson, 740 Ash; and Mrs. Lynne E. Arnold, Lane; 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, three sisters, Miss Mary Pearl Carpenter and Mrs. E. W. Smay, Ottawa; and Mrs. Lillie C. Scott, Osawatomie; and two brothers, Albert R. Carpenter, Ottawa; and L. R. Carpenter, Carney, Okla. Three children preceded Mrs. Walker in death.

Funeral services will be held at the Lamb Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. William G. Ward will officiate. Interment will be in Walnut Creek cemetery. At Mrs. Walker's own request, please omit sending flowers.
