Frank C. Cornwell, 83, a lifelong Spring Valley area resident, died last Thursday at La Crosse, Wis, Lutheran Hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1893, and served in World War I. He was a member of the Fillmore County Barracks of Veterans of World War I and the Spring Valley VFW. He married Angie Rossbach [sic] and they later divorced. He married Clara Kohn Flynn in 1939 in Cresco, IA, and she survives. Other survivors include three sons, Frank of St. Paul, Charles of Frankfort, NY and George of Hillcrest Heights, MD; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Lucy) Cottengaim of Bremerton, Wash, and Mrs. Marion (Jeanne) Johnson of Menomonee, Wis; one stepson John Flynn of New York City; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs Lilla [sic] Barber of San Francisco, Mrs. Mildred French of Escondido, Calif. and Mrs. Veona [sic] Vute [sic] of Cleveland, Ohio and one brother, Finch Cornwell of Phoenix, Ariz. One sister and two brothers preceded him in death. The funeral was Monday at Osland Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Amell officiating. Burial was in Spring Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Cornwell, Leonard Johnson, Michael Flynn, Patrick Flynn, Coy Kahn [sic] and Gene Reiland. Honorary pallbearers were the Fillmore County Barracks World War I veterans.
