Mrs. Amidon, Former Toledo Resident, Died At Boone On Jan. 15

Mrs. Ollie Amidon, 85, died last Monday, January 15, at Boone, where she had been living during the winter months with her daughter, Mrs. Nell Quackenbush. She had been in the Boone hospital about two months. A brief funeral service was held at Madrid Tuesday afternoon at the Sundberg funeral home. Burial service was at Larchwood Thursday afternoon. Relatives attending the service at Madrid were Mrs. Ward Ferris, Mrs. Melvin Dolash, Howard and Miss Henriette Amidon, Toledo; Mrs. Harriette Allen and daughter, Christy Sue and Mrs. George Alberts, of Marshalltown. A niece, Mrs. Grace Sharp, and nephew E. L. Mohler, of Toledo, were unable to attend the service. Mrs. Amidon was born Jan. 19 1866 in Crawfordsville, Ind. She was a daughter of Alexander and Martha Whiteley. Her marriage to W. V. Amidon took place March 10, 1887, and they made their home in Tama County until moving to Larchwood in 1892. Following the death of her husband in Nov, 1944, Mrs. Amidon had made her home in Madrid with her daughter. They spent two winters in Toledo. Mrs. Amidon was preceded in death by her parents and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Flora Newhall, Mrs. Hannah Stoneshouer, Mrs. Anna Mock, James Whiteley and Charles Whiteley. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Quackenbush, of Madrid, and several nieces and nephews.
