Hannah Elizabeth Whiteley, the oldest child of Alexander and Martha Whiteley, was born in Boone county, Indiana August 9, 1845. The family came to Tama county when she was quite young and she has been a resident of the county ever since. She was united in marriage to Jacob Stineshower November 10, 1864. To them were born three children, Mrs. Grant Hill, her only daughter and two sons, John and James. These all survive her. Mr. Stineshower preceded her to the better land July 13, 1901. Mrs. Stineshower was a member of the Christian church and had been since girlhood. She was a devoted christian and was always faithful to her church and when the summons came she was ready and waiting for her Lord to call. The summons came Thursday, March 5, at the age of 65 years, 5 months and 26 days. Mrs. Stineshower was a most patient sufferer, though her illness extended over a period of several months, even running into years. She has been making her home with her daughter for some time in Toledo, where she has had the tenderest of care. She was a most loving and devoted wife, mother, neighbor and friend. Since she was a resident of the county so long, the circle of her friendship was wide and all recognized her to be the woman of a beautiful life and many join the family in their grief. The funeral was held at the residence of Grant Hill Saturday, and was conducted by O.O. Inman, pastor of the United Brethren church. The music was supplied by Mrs. Carl Hamilton, Miss Mabel Sones, Prof. Yothers and B.F. Green. Miss Lulu Berger played the instrument. The pall bearers were, Tom Smith, George Smith, Lyman Emerson, Enoch Blake, W.H. McAnulty and William Winters. The interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.
