Hamilton was the patriarch of this clan of Bakers in Greene County, MO. He and his wife Nancy G. (Haynie) Baker were living in McMinn County, TN in 1850 and moved to Greene County, MO sometime between 1856 and 1859. They had 11 children, of which I have information on the following 10: Susan Elizabeth June (Wilson) (4 Aug 1837 - 28 Dec 1919), Mary (b. abt. 1840), Sarah Laster (Mills) (30 Mar 1842 - 14 Apr 1921), Margaret (14 Jan 1844 - 6 Aug 1862), Christopher Columbus (b. abt. 1846), Thomas J. (b. abt. 1848), James Milton (2 Nov 1851 - 3 Feb 1936), Martha A. (b. abt. 1854), Millard H. (28 May 1856 - 6 Oct 1861), and Victoria V. (Hughes, Dingler) (b. abt. 1859). All but the last were born in TN, but Victoria was born in Missouri. I don't know if Hamilton was killed in the Civil War or if he died of other causes, but I would appreciate hearing from anyone with more details on this large family.
