August was born ca. 1863. He was age 25 at time of death in 1888. He married Josephine Leising 2 March 1886. His parents were not determined. The family had said he was related to the Frank Henry Beckmann family. Could have been a son. There were two August Beckmann's in the Louisville city directory. One was a wagon maker boarding at 505 E. Green (present day Liberty) in 1886. In 1887 a George Kraus was boarding at 505 E. Green. A George Kraus and Josephine's half sister Emma Stuckenberg were witnesses in the wedding of August and Josephine. The Kentucky Wagon Manufacturer was located at 717 E. Madison St. Josephine had a brother, William Leising, living across the street in the house their parents had built in 1851-1853 at 718 E. Madison (later renumbered to 714). Could she have met August while visiting her brother?

August and Josephine had two children, daughter only living nine months and a son Albert. August died of consumption.
