Lenora A. Walker, 92, of OKC passed away on November 9, 2009. She was born to the late James and Pearl Allen of Madison, NC on April 24, 1917. Lenora attended Wentworth Consolidated School and completed her nurse training at Lynchburg and Alexandria Hospitals in Virginia. She then joined the Army Nursing Corp in 1942 and served 2 years in the China-Burma-India Theater achieving the rank of 1st Lt. While serving in the Army, Lenora met the love of her life, the late Earl Walker. After graduating from the University of Virginia they moved to OKC where she had a long and distinguished career as a RN at Mercy Hospital. Lenora was a natural caregiver and when she wasn't taking care of her patients she was tending to all the flowers in her beautiful garden and being with her 2 precious dogs. She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the UMW Abigail-Mary Circle. Lenora is survived by her sister Desley Merrick of NC, daughter Nancy and her husband Mike of Edmond, OK, her two grandsons Chris Bell and his wife Brandy of Edmond and Bryce Bell of Edmond, her great grandchildren Elijah and Sarah Bell of Edmond and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Tom and John Allen. Memorial gifts may be made to the St. Luke's UMC Foundation or the charity of your choice. Services will be conducted by Rev. Linda Brinkworth on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 2 PM, in Watchorn Chapel at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, OKC. Services are under the direction of the Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK.
