Blaine lived most of his life in Richland County where he was a farmer and part-time auctioneer, retiring in 1972.

He was a member of the Adario Methodist Church, a former Clerk of the Board of Butler Township Trustees, a former member of the Butler Township School Board and an honorary member of the Butler Township Farmers Institute.

Blaine and his wife Yana owned a 160-acre farm on Noble Road in Shiloh, Richland, Ohio.
